VISI

I'm so thrilled one of NOUSH's cushions is featured in the December issue 2013 of VISI!
Together with some of my absolute favourites of the I heart Market ...
Jane Sews - Artisinal Clothing (my new big love - I would LOVE to have every single piece she makes!)
Mint (wonderful restored furniture and homeware - such a pleasure to receive  Kirsty Machen's daily updates) and I have had my eye on this yellow leather bag by Savior Brand Co since the day I first saw it!!!!!
And then of course my own Khumalo cushion cover. I was surprised to see that VISI used the link to this blog!!! I will be honest with you - I actually thought it didn't exist anymore... But here it still is, carrying quite a bit of my "history" here in South Africa. I decided to not let it die, just by feeding it bits every once in a while :) But please also come and visit my website NOUSH where you will find a new blog aswell.

Ohsoplush

Our friend Lanel van Vuuren, who is a wonderful photographer also makes amazing "soft creatures". On the blog Ohsoplush you will find most of them - each with their own names and story!
And I have to tell you I really like them all!!!!! Lanel handstiches them and you can see this straight away in the care and attention to detail. You might even get a better overview of all her creatures on her flickr site... Such unique and personal handmade objects - I love them!
This endearing creature: Spoon, will be part of our family soon...

Safari Fusion

I'm just so thrilled with the gorgeous pictures that the Australian Safari Fusion took of the Langazela cushions... They really made my heart skip a beat - so proud to have been around the cradle in which these designs did grow :)
You should also check the Safari Fusion blog, to peak behind the scenes during this wonderful photo-shoot... And to follow lovely Kellie Shearwood on her search for something new and different. I think she has an amazing taste and style.

Happy 1st Bithday Commune. 1

My Greg (Streak:) is part of Commune. 1 's Birthday Group show in Cape Town! It will be on from the 14th of September - 14th of October and I think just this invite already looks absolutely awesome!!! If you are somewhere closeby, please go and have a look... The gallery is an old mortuary/chapel that got turned into an impressive and inspiring space - an atypical gallery environment and a welcome relief to the white cube(s)! Watch this space for Greg's big solo show there next year!

MONKEYBIZ

At the last Design Indaba in Cape Town, I totally fell in love with the new range of Monkeybiz - a nonprofit income-generating bead project started in CT, January 2000. They showed a wonderful collection of iconic South Afican brands like Marmite, All Gold, Black Cat etc. and all of those in giant versions, beaded from head to toe! Still on my wishlist big time :)

Africa! Ignite for “love tart by Cari Stephenson”

I'm SO proud of our (Africa!Ignite's) beaded bags as part of Cape Town fashion designer Cari Stephenson's latest collection... Almost every single new design got combined with a bag! She used our existing design, that we call "the test-pattern" (for some of you possibly also known from my own "Vogelki" shop...) And together with Cari we developed a new bag, with a beaded leopard print! We made that bag in all sorts of different colours - for every outfit a different bag!
In Durban you can buy Cari's designs at “The Space” stores at Gateway and Pavilion…!
They are gorgeous and very affordable and the first summer styles (new collection) will be available in 2 weeks time.

TANTE POS

I'm back in the Netherlands for a month and this weekend we went to Diepenheim, a little village in the East of the Netherlands - were I partly grew up... From when I was tiny on, practically every weekend my parents would escape the city and bring us to our wonderful little house in the forest to build treehouses and swim in our stream surrounded by waterlillies... I remember bringing my Amsterdam friends here and often they would scream seeing a spider or frog, and they never understood I could enjoy cycling just for fun or enjoy the environment, without going somewhere specific!
But I promise you there is SO many wonderful things going on here...
Yesterday, I discovered that the former postoffice in Lochem is now transformed into the most amazing shop/coffee-shop/gallery:
TANTE POS
I straight away totally fell in love with their gorgeous set-up. It is simple and with very basic materials, but SO expressive. Most of the careful collection inside is secondhand, but clearly very carefully put together. Everything is for sale: in the lovely tea/coffee area you can even decided to buy the cup and sourcer you were drinking from... TANTE POS is also the first offical out-let store of Seconda Vita - they make cushions and blankets of recycled blankets!
I promise you this space is worth checking out even if you have to come from far... I love it!
They also have lovely secondhand childrens clothes - and everything is displayed so tastefully :)
